No great story ever starts with someone deciding that “good enough” is good enough, and the Living Designs Furniture story is no exception.
Meet the Founder: Youval Meicler
Our story begins with Youval Meicler, a master craftsman with more than 40 years of experience in the furniture and mattress industry. Born in Israel and raised with a deep respect for hands-on work, Youval moved to Houston and began his career in mattress manufacturing. From there, Youval quickly moved through the ranks, gaining first-hand experience with every aspect of furniture making and selling until finally he became president of that same store he had swept just six years earlier.
He quickly became known for his obsessive attention to quality, never cutting corners and always prioritizing what made something feel right. There was just one problem: Youval had seen first-hand how furniture stores and manufacturers drive up prices and sacrifice quality, and heknew he could do things better on his own. So he did.
After founding Texas Mattress Makers and earning the trust of thousands of customers who wanted better sleep, Youval saw an opportunity to bring that same level of care and expertise to furniture. Living Designs Furniture was born with a simple but powerful mission: to create high-quality, customizable furniture made right here in Houston, and to make it accessible to everyone.
Cutting Out the Middleman, Literally
Youval didn’t want to sell furniture like everyone else. Traditional furniture retailers often sell mass-produced pieces marked up by the time they reach the showroom. The result is that consumers pay more for less. At Living Designs Furniture, we build everything in-house and sell directly to our customers. That means no inflated prices, no unnecessary layers, just exceptional furniture built to order.
